Project Overview

About DivyaDrishti Darpan

DivyaDrishti Darpan is a Vedic astrology app for Android. It brings five readings together in one place — a daily guidance score, astrology compatibility, traditional Gun Milan marriage matching, Moon Sign personality and Chaldean name numerology — each explained in plain language rather than jargon.

Birth details are entered once and reused across every reading, people you check often can be saved, and past readings stay in a history on the phone. The full interface is available in English and Hindi.

Platform: Android (Android 7.0 and later) — available on Google Play

The Brief

Problem & Solution

The Business Problem

People who follow Vedic astrology want quick daily guidance and traditional checks such as Gun Milan in the language they are most comfortable with — without handing their birth details to an online account.

Solution & Implementation

Built a native Android app in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose with its own astronomy and astrology engines. Readings are calculated on the phone, birth details, saved people and history are stored locally with no account or cloud backup, and the whole app works in English and Hindi.

The app is written in Kotlin with Jetpack Compose and Material 3, and is split into separate modules for the user interface, data, domain logic and two in-house calculation engines — one for astronomy, one for astrology. Because those engines run on the device, readings are calculated on the phone rather than on a server.

Profiles, saved people and reading history are kept in a local Room database, with preferences in DataStore. The app has no account and no cloud backup, and a Data & privacy screen shows what is stored and lets the user delete all of it. Optional usage analytics stays off unless the user turns it on.
